Dr. Chad Clark

Dr. Clark is an accomplished singer, educator, choral clinician/director, and music
education researcher. He is the Director of Choral Activities at Lakewood High School in
Lakewood, CO, the Director of Music at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Boulder,
Colorado, and is in his inaugural year as the Artistic Director for the Alpine Chorale.

As a singer, Dr. Clark has performed domestically and internationally throughout Europe
including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, Italy,
and has conducted numerous choirs around the United States in the high school,
university, and adult choir settings. His conducting mentors include Mr. Loren Wenz, Dr.
Rodney Eichenberger, Dr. Brooke Larson, Dr. Jeremy Manternach, and Dr. Timothy
Stalter.

Dr. Clark is a sought out choral and vocal clinician who spends a significant amount of
his time working with high school teachers and students across the Denver metro.
Beyond teaching, Dr. Clark frequently presents at state, regional, national, and
international music conferences affiliated with the National Association for Music
Teachers (NAfME), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and The Voice
Foundation (VF).

Dr. Clark’s research surrounds topics related to teacher self-efficacy and adolescent
voice change instruction, the effects of choral conductor and singer gesture on
conglomerate choral sound, straw phonation and various semi-occluded vocal tract
exercises (SOVTE) and their impact on choral acoustics, and adolescent singer vocal
development. Dr. Clark’s publications are found in the Journal of Voice, the Bulletin of
the Council of Research in Music Education, and the International Journal of Research
in Choral Singing.

Dr. Clark received his Ph.D. in Choral Music Education with an emphasis in Choral
Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, a M.M. in Choral Studies from Arizona State
University, and a B.A. in Vocal Performance from George Fox University. In his spare
time, he drinks a lot of great coffee, travels the globe, makes music with great humans,
and spends time with his golden retriever, Brodie!
